Update (March 2023)

The Council are pleased to advise, that the procurement process to appoint a main contractor, is to recommence imminently. This follows on from a failed procurement in 2022, in part due to limited interest and difficult market conditions.

The decision has been made to split the proposed development into two sub phases to make the opportunity more attractive to local contractors and increase the chances of a successful procurement exercise.

Phase 3a will commence first, and it is envisaged that the development could commence as early as the Autumn 2023 and complete by late Autumn 2024.

The Council has now taken the opportunity to raise the specification of the dwellings, most notably to meet Future Homes Standards 2025 (which will require new build homes; to be future-proofed with low carbon heating, increased levels of insulation and improved energy efficiency) and to provide Net Zero Carbon dwellings.

The Heras fencing will continue to remain in place for the duration of the procurement process and until a contractor is appointed.

A further update will be sent out in the summer, hopefully to announce who the successful main contractor is and a planned ‘start on site’ date.
