Consultation has concluded

The council is looking at redesigning services as part of the Southend 2050 ambitions.

An important conversation has been happening across Southend-on-Sea since the summer of 2018 called ‘Southend 2050’.

Southend 2050 has explored what kind of place we all want Southend-on-Sea to become and to understand what we all need to do to create it.

Thousands of people have taken part across the borough, through numerous events, workshops, forums and surveys.

In this project we are looking at Children Centres whose purpose is to improve services for all young children and their families.

  • child development and school readiness
  • parenting wishes and parenting skills
  • child and family health and life chances

Southend Currently has 9 Children Centres- Blenheim, Centre Place, Cambridge Road, Eastwood, Friars, Hamstel, Summercourt, Prince Avenue and Temple Sutton .  Children Centre Southend information

This Project is inviting Professionals to be involved:

By taking part in this project you will be helping to shape the future of Children Centres in Southend.

Your thoughts and ideas will be used to inform future plans that will go to cabinet members in November 2020.

Your ideas will help develop commissioned services delivered in and around Children Centres in 2021.

This Project will close on the 30th October 2020.

    We are seeking the views of Professionals on how they see Children Centres working best for families especially in light of the pandemic. 

    We want to know how you think Children Centres can become even better. Your feedback will be included in a paper to cabinet member.   Next year members will be making  decisions on how children centres will be run in the future and what type of service should be included in the specification. We also want your views on the way in which we can work with families during and post COVID-19 to address the issues families are facing.
