4. Community Heritage Walks: A Social History of Prittlewell

Community Heritage Walks: A Social History of Prittlewell' will include the development and delivery of four free public guided walks to celebrate the unique social history and heritage of Prittlewell, the original settlement that proceeded Southend-on-Sea. The project will embrace the benefits of access to greenspace for both physical and mental wellbeing, as well as engaging local communities in the discovery of cultural histories and perspectives along the walk. It will achieve this by using historical prompts, as well as local and specialist knowledge to engage and activate people with a fresh perspective on their locality. The primary aim of the project will be to contribute to a strengthened local identity by engaging residents in lesser-known social histories or revealing stories that instil a sense of civic pride.
