6. Springfield Allotment – Community Rehabilitation and Wellbeing Project

The Springfield Allotment – Community Rehabilitation & Wellbeing Project will transform an unused plot in Westborough into a shared space where growth happens for people as well as plants. Young people referred through the Ministry of Justice and isolated local residents will work side by side, learning new skills, connecting with others and building confidence in a safe, welcoming environment. At svp, we regularly support people experiencing loneliness, poor mental health, low confidence and a lack of purposeful activity. Many tell us they want something meaningful to be part of – a reason to get outside, meet others and rebuild their wellbeing. Young people at risk of offending also need structured, practical opportunities that help them develop responsibility, routine and positive relationships. This project directly responds to both needs. Participants will learn horticulture skills, build raised beds, maintain pathways, care for a greenhouse and grow produce that will support community meals at St Vincent’s. These activities promote improved wellbeing, physical activity, resilience and pride in contributing to something long-lasting and valued. By supporting this project, you help create an inclusive, peaceful space where friendships can form, barriers can be broken, and our community becomes stronger, healthier and more connected.
