Drug and Alcohol Needs Assessment
Consultation has concluded
About this survey
Southend-on-Sea City Council is currently undertaking work to understand more about the impact of drug and alcohol misuse within the local area and to better understand local people’s concerns about drugs and alcohol.
The consultation is being undertaken by an independent third party research organisation called the Centre for Public Innovation (CPI).
As a resident of Southend-on-Sea we are interested to hear your views about the misuse of drugs and alcohol. We would very much appreciate it if you could answer this short survey which will take approximately 10 minutes to complete.
In this survey, by drug misuse we mean the consumption of illicit/illegal drugs, the use of drugs not prescribed by a doctor or healthcare professional, or the misuse of drugs that have been prescribed (for instance using prescribed drugs for recreational purposes).
If you would prefer, a paper version is available by emailing Jennifer.bier@cpi.org.uk.
The survey is completely anonymous and contains no information that can be used to identify you.
All completed surveys will be entered into a prize draw for a £25 gift card that can be spent in local shops.
If you would like to be entered into the prize draw, you will need to leave either a phone number or email address at the end of the survey, so you can be contacted. All personal details provided will be deleted after the survey deadline has passed and the winner of the voucher has been contacted.
You can also use the map to tell us if there are particular areas you have concerns about regarding drug or alcohol misuse.
The closing date for responses to this consultation is Wednesday 14th September 2022.
*Update - October 2022*
The substance misuse needs assessment resident survey is now closed. A short report setting out the key findings from the survey is now available (please see Documents section). We would like to thank all the local residents who took the time to offer their views and opinions about drug and alcohol misuse in Southend. The winner of the gift voucher has been selected and the prize awarded. The survey results will be incorporated into the needs assessment and will help the council and other partners think about how best to address drug and alcohol misuse in the area
