Consultation has concluded
Funding to deliver free holiday activities and healthy food during 2021 school holidays
The Department for Education set up a Holiday Activity & Food Fund (#HAF2021) to provide Holiday Activity clubs to young people who are eligible for benefits based free school meals.
Southend Borough Council piloted an exciting programme over Easter. Following on from this success we are now looking to extend and enhance a Summer Programme.
The Department for Education has set some minimum delivery requirements as follows:
4 weeks of the summer holiday
4 days per week and 4 hours per day
Each holiday activity club needs to provide as a minimum:
Healthy food
Physical activity
Enriching activity
Nutritional education
Inclusive and accessible to all
Over Easter we found by working with a range of partners we were able to develop a model of delivery that ensured support and provision for over 1000 eligible young people. We are now in a position to extend and enhance the offer to even more young people over the Summer Holidays.
We are now keen to get a better idea about what Summer holiday provision is already taking place, what partners are interested in working with us and what role you feel you could play. This could be managing all aspects of an activity club, or multiple activity clubs, or by providing specific activities across a number of clubs, or by supporting the food delivery and education element.
Below is the link to an Expression of Interest for partners who are interested in being part of the Summer programme. We need some information about you and/or your provision as well as a rough outline of what you can offer and the cost per student per 4hr day/session.
The closing date is Friday 21st May 2021 and successful applicants will be contacted by the end of May 2021. Please provide as much information as you can.
