Consultation has concluded

Background

Southend-on-Sea became a City, in March 2022 and we have become Southend-on-Sea City Council, we are marking this exciting new chapter through the creation of a new council logo and brand identity.

Proposal

The new brand needs to truly reflect Southend-on-Sea, the council, and be inclusive and accessible for all our service users. Four concepts were created below

  • The Seaside Windmill
  • The Shell
  • The Modern Coat of Arms
  • The Pier and Pavilion (S Wave)

The Consultation

The consultation ran from from 6 July to 5 August and was open to all residents and businesses living or trading in the Borough.

Survey interaction

The main consultation was delivered through the Southend-on-Sea Borough Council online consultation portal. A total of 1,600 people accessed the campaign of that 636 responded online, the rest were aware, informed but chose not to comment or rank the logos, at the peak of the consultation it got over 500 visits per day.

The favoured outcome was for the ‘shell’ concept and the full report into the survey results, including the reasons behind the branding refresh and the engagement survey will be discussed at Cabinet on Tuesday 13 September.
