What is Pride in Place?

Pride in Place is a Government programme that supports communities to take action to improve their neighbourhoods. It provides funding for projects that respond to local priorities and help create lasting benefits for residents and places.

What area does the funding cover?

The Government has allocated Pride in Place funding based on evidence of need at ward level. Shoeburyness Ward has been selected as the focus area for this funding.

While the funding is linked to Shoeburyness Ward, projects do not have to be located entirely within the ward boundary. Activities and improvements can take place elsewhere, provided there is clear evidence that they will benefit Shoeburyness Ward residents.

For example, improvements to cycling routes, walking paths or transport connections that link Shoeburyness with other parts of the city may be funded if they make it easier, safer or more convenient for local residents to travel, access services, or reach employment and leisure opportunities.

All proposed projects will need to demonstrate how they contribute to improving outcomes and quality of life for people living in Shoeburyness Ward.

Who is on the Pride in Place Board?

The Board is made up of local residents, a councillor and the local MP. They work together to review community feedback, consider investment proposals and help guide decisions on how funding is used in Shoeburyness.
