Consultation has concluded
The purpose of the consultation
PSPO1 is due to expire at midnight on 10 July 2022.
It was therefore appropriate both to review and assess:
the necessity of the Existing Restrictions within PSPO1, and
the need to renew, and vary PSPO1, to include the Existing Restrictions as well as to extend the Drinking Control Area (forming part of the Restricted Area) and introduce the proposed Additional Restrictions within the Restricted Area.
The purpose of the consultation was to obtain responses to the questions provided in the survey, which helped us inform the final recommendations to Cabinet in those two respects.
The Consultation
The consultation ran from 27th May until 25th June 2022 and was open to all residents and businesses living or trading in the Borough. We collated views about anti-social behaviour including drinking in a public spaces, the use e-scooters/ cycling etc.
Survey interaction
The main consultation was delivered through the Southend-on-Sea Borough Council online consultation portal. A total of 372 residents and businesses participated. The responses varied and of that 323 were informed which indicates they had visited the project page and viewed the survey and documents but chose not to comment, 83 responded online, 1 email response.
The overall consensus from those responding is that they strongly support and understand what the Council is trying to achieve and what is required to cover existing provisions within these areas.
