What is the Tackling Poverty Strategy?

Southend on Sea City Council is developing a Tackling Poverty Strategy and Action Plan by 2023 with the aims of supporting people born into poverty, and those who fall into poverty, to be able to move out of poverty.

The 5 priority themes for this strategy are:money in a paper cup

  • Food Insecurity
  • Fuel Poverty
  • Financial Inclusion
  • Housing Poverty
  • Jobs & Skills

With the view to highlight digital inclusion and health inequality in all of the above themes.

If you are working with residents on low income or facing financial hardship in Southend we would like to hear your views.

Your views will be used alongside other key data points to help inform the Tackling Poverty Strategy and Action Plan and ensure the council has the right support in place to help residents..

The strategy and action plan will be co-produced with people with lived experience of poverty, we will launch a household survey to understand residents views and organising focus groups sessions to understand people's journey through the support system.

We would like to hear from you!

If you are a volunteer, support worker, staff member, please share your views on the "Tell us what should be the vision for the Tackling Poverty Strategy?" survey

If you are overseeing your community's, organisation's or team's work please help us mapping services in Southend with filling in the Tackling Poverty Services mapping survey too.
